DU: Offline examinations resumed for 2nd and 3rd year UG students

Delhi University has resumed offline examinations for 2nd and 3rd year undergraduate students.


After a two-year gap because of the Covid-19 pandemic, physical mode examinations for Delhi University resumed on Wednesday. 

Speaking to the news agency PTI, Delhi University Dean of Examination DS Rawat said that more than 29,500 students sat for the examination for about 40 papers held in the morning. 

Whereas, Delhi University’s School of Open Learning conducted examinations for three exam on Wednesday morning.

The dean of examinations further informed, “The exams for the majority of the courses have begun. This is after two years that the university is holding a physical mode of examination. “Proper arrangements have been made."

UG EXAMINATIONS BEING CONDUCTED IN TWO SESSIONS

DU Dean of Examinations DS Rawat went on to inform that examinations for undergraduate students are being conducted in two sessions in the day.

He then said that for 66 papers, examinations are going to be held in the evening while 23,684 students are expected to appear.

EXTRA DURATION FOR THE EXAM

The Dean of Examinations added that proper Covid-19 protocols were being followed in addition to providing students with an extra 30 minutes for the exam.

He had stated, "The duration of exams for undergraduate, post-graduate, professional programmes is three hours and an additional 30 minutes is being provided as a special one-time measure," Rawat added.

Whereas, exams for people with benchmark disabilities (PwBD) will have a duration of four hours and forty minutes.

It includes a "special one-time measure" of an additional 40 minutes, as well as an additional 20 minutes per hour.

ESSENTIAL REPEAT EXAMINATION

While examinations for most of the courses started on Wednesday, the varsity held examinations for students with Essential Repeats on Monday and Tuesday.

The varsity was forced to conduct an open-book examination this year due to colleges being closed due to Covid-19 until early this year.

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

Delhi University further advised students to carry a hand sanitiser and water bottle to the examination centre, in addition to following Covid-19 guidelines including the use of masks and maintaining social distancing.
